Bamboo is a word you look at for too long and think, what a funny word. But hey, what it does is a lot more interesting than how it sounds. From shoe racks to a panda’s favorite snack, you’ll find bamboo products are at the source of eco-friendly materials.

Is Bamboo Sustainable?
Yes, very much so. In fact, it’s likely the best alternative for plastic and surveys say one of the most satisfying to have in your home. Bamboo is fast-growing, sturdy, long-lasting, biodegradable, and compostable. Because it’s easy and fast to grow, its abundance helps humans with quick products, and the earth isn’t breaking a sweat by being overworked. Switching to bamboo products is a great step in making a positive impact on the earth (and look at all the cute bamboo stuff you can have below!)
Fun Fact! Bamboo is a part of the grass family.

Living Room/Entryway

Shoe rack – Originally designed as a sturdy shoe rack, this bamboo product doubles as a plant stand. With 3-tiers, you can do a lot with this bad boy, and the Etsy reviews say 4.5/5! Don’t forget to try eco-friendly shoes made out of eucalyptus and wool from sustainable clothing brands!
Bamboo face mask – With satisfying colors, bamboo items like face masks are in high demand. These face masks, in particular, are bestsellers at only $5.81 and make good gifts.
Coffee table – If you enjoy rustic, earthy vibes you’ll appreciate this bamboo coffee table. The reviews say this “beautiful quality” table can also be requested for “custom width.” If only I had room for another table…
Bamboo blinds – Ever need some privacy? Don’t we all… These natural blinds have multiple colors to choose from, are a bestseller, roll up, and keep the harsh sun away.
Kitchen

Drying rack – I would insert the link of the one that I use but it says ‘currently unavailable’ so that won’t help you out. But it’s pictured above and works wonders. The link is another great one that twins my own or you can use a flat dish drying rack 🙂
Paper towels – These are reusable as an example, but the ones I currently have are biodegradable. I bought them at CVS believe it or not. My first time trying them was an adjustment because they are SO sturdy! My boyfriend and I had to pop a squat and yank a piece off like starting a chainsaw (only a slight exaggeration…) but my point is that once we got used to it we needed fewer pieces to do the job and knowing they are biodegradable was a sigh of relief.
Large utensils – I’m talking about the giant fork, spoon, spatula utensils. Think salad tongs! This set even comes with a free bamboo utensil holder. They would look beautiful in your zero waste kitchen.
Spice rack organizer – This is a favorite. It’s expandable, durable, eco-friendly, and it has 3-tiers! I have one similar and absolutely love it.
Fun Fact! Bamboo was the only plant to survive the radiation of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima, Japan in 1945.
Bathroom

Bamboo electric toothbrush – Okay, this has 5-star reviews and looks beautiful…it will likely make your mouth feel the same. Hygiene bamboo products are growing in popularity so you’ll have plenty of options.
Toilet paper – Who Gives A Crap has some of the best sustainable materials for your bum! There’s bamboo, 100% recycled material, and forest-friendly paper. Check out how to turn your most used room in the house into a zero waste bathroom!
Bathroom tray – A place to store or display all the goods! This simple and beautiful tray is where you can put your ethical makeup products, organic hair products, and some eucalyptus for a good smell in your home (we all know how important that is!)
Soap holder – A cute little bamboo soap tray can make all the difference. It’s only $5.00 and has 5-star reviews! The color is very satisfying, as well.
Bedroom

Plant stand – This is the one I use and love because it wasn’t super expensive and it extends to various-sized plants. You can see the zebra plant above is large so the durability of bamboo is reliable. Technically this plant is in the living room but I moved it to the bedroom because it requires full shade. Bamboo sheets – Vegan. 100% organic bamboo. Deep pocket fitted. Cooling. Handmade. Silky soft. Going to be yours soon.
Hanging wall shelves – Bedroom decor in the form of natural bamboo is one of the most calming scenic retreats. If you’re about to go to bed and you see the new plant and smell the homemade candle on top of your floating wall shelves you’d be fixed right into a peaceful state of mind.
…
Bamboo products are sustainably-sourced, durable, biodegradable, and an all-around pleasure to have in the home. Switching out a few of your current or used items with products made from bamboo will help brighten up the rooms in your house and help avoid the purchase of plastic, as well as other harmful materials you wouldn’t want in your home anyway.
It’s also important to teach younger generations about what’s happening with climate change and how they can make sustainable choices from the start. Bamboo is one step toward making an impact!
P.S. pandas don’t mind sharing 😉
